Library Welcome

McNeill Library

The mission of Lamar Consolidated ISD Librarians is to create a physical and digital environment in which our students, staff, and community can strengthen their natural inquisitive nature, foster a love of reading, and serve as a collaborative resource for teachers and staff in developing and delivering powerful learning experiences across all curricular areas.

  • The library is open Monday through Friday from 7:15 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Extended hours will be available during special events. Students visit the library weekly for literacy-based lessons and the opportunity to check-out books. Kindergarten and first grade may borrow one book during library class. Second through fifth grade may choose two books.

  • Library Volunteers are an essential part of our program. They help in running the circulation desk and shelving books. This allows the librarian to devote more time to teach children the valuable skills of enjoying literature and becoming information masters. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Mrs. Gilmore

  • When a book is returned damaged beyond repair, the replacement cost of the book will be charged. Damage to library materials includes but is not limited to: spills from food, drink or other substances, damage to cover or spine, cutting or tearing pages, writing with pencil, pen, markers, etc.
